The seeker of the knowledge and the Angels

In that particular moment when one leaves his home with an intention to seek knowledge, there is no more blessed moment than that for him. Since it is in those times when the angels that surround him lower their wings for him and give him their approval. The Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) said “No one leaves their house seeking knowledge except that the angels lower their wings and give approval for that person”. Since such a person steps out to spread good throughout the world, the angels too spread their wings for him. This intention of seeking or spreading knowledge that brings one closer to Allah is the noblest pursuit that one finds in the Sunnah of the Prophet (Pbuh).

The Prophet (Pbuh) said  "Whoever seeks out a path of knowledge, Allah will make the path to paradise easy for him". There are many Ahadith. One most famous Hadith on which  Abn Rajab (RA) wrote the entire book states “As a person goes out seeking knowledge, the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth all seek forgiveness for that person. Whether it is the angels in the heavens or the fish in the sea, each one of them, seeks forgiveness for that person as they go out seeking and spreading knowledge”. In Abn Rajab (RA)’s opinion what would cause the fish in the sea to seek forgiveness for that person is that a person of knowledge would always think about the rights of everything on them. So they treat even their environment with care, as they're acting in accordance with that knowledge.

The Prophet (Pbuh) said, "The superiority of the scholar over the worshiper is like the superiority of the full moon over the stars" and he said (Pbuh) in another narration that “The likeliness of a scholar over a worshiper is like my similarity to you, is like my rank over the lowest of you (meaning the lowest of the Ummah Muhammad). The likelihood of individuals who actively seek and share knowledge can be likened to that of Prophets. Rather than leaving behind monetary riches, the Prophets bequeathed knowledge as their legacy.

The process of learning about Allah makes one establish his connection with Him, and in this process one becomes connected to His Prophet (Pbuh) as well. This whole process makes one an inheritor of Prophet (Pbuh).  So by engaging in this process, one can establish a connection not only with Allah and the Prophet (Pbuh), but also with the angels, as they spread their wings out in approval for him. Furthermore, his relationship with people benefits them and even the environment, which also serves as a means of connecting with others.

That’s why the highest angels send their peace and blessings upon the one who attempts to learn, showing their approval and their humility to that person who is becoming more humble and being beneficial to everything around.
