WHEN JUST LOOKING AT THE THINGS MAY NOT BE ENOUGH BUT ACTUALLY HOW ONE WILL PONDER UPON THEM, WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE- SURAH AL-MURSALAT-77 (Part I)

This seventy-seventh surah of Quran gives a powerful message with audacity in each verse. It affirms the Resurrection and warns man regarding this truth as ultimately the man will have to face the consequences himself. It begins with a calling to witness the illusion to the gradual and step by step revelation of the Quran. This book which was revealed to guide humanity in the direction of light and this revelation has been stressed in order to give weight to a subsequently stated truth or evidence of the truth. “CONSIDER these (messages) sent forth in waves” (Quran 77: 1). “and then storming on with a tempest's force!” (Quran 77:2). It relates to the impact of the Divine writ as a whole which has ever influenced human societies over all ages. Consider these (messages) that spread (the truth) far and wide” (Quran 77:3), “thus separating (right and wrong) with all clarity” (Quran 77:4).  The term furqan is often used in the Qur'an to describe one or another of the revealed scriptures, and particularly the Qur'an itself. There it clearly refers to the faculty of moral valuation which distinguishes every human being who is truly conscious of God.   It applies also to "human reason” which enables us to distinguish the true from the false. This is the Book that enables a man to distinguish between truth and falsehood and is the Guide, since it contains the knowledge that the Muslim must possess in order to remain upon the straight path. After these oaths, then the Quran mentions the terrors of the Hereafter for those who reject the Truth.  “and then giving forth a reminder” (Quran 77: 5), “(promising) freedom from blame or (offering) a warning!” (Quran 77:6) The purpose of sending this Reminder is that on the Day of Judgment people have no excuse that O Allah we didn’t know. Moreover, it also serves the purpose of warning those who do not pay heed and thus they avoid whatever is ethically reprehensible so that it leads to freedom from blame.

BEHOLD, all that you are told to expect will surely come to pass” (Quran 77:7). It refers to the Day of Judgment that has been promised. It will certainly come. Quran then describes some of the events that will occur on that day. When the stars be extinguished and the entire

world be thrown into absolute darkness.  “Thus, (it will come to pass) when the stars are effaced” (Quran 77:8).   The second event to occur is the splitting of the sky.  “and when the sky is rent asunder” (Quran 77: 9), The third event to occur is that the mountains will be blown away as dust. “and when the mountains are scattered like dust” (Quran 77: 10). Then the Messengers will be assembled and will be held as a witness for or against those to whom they conveyed God's message.  These massagers were only bound to deliver the message, but they couldn’t force anyone to follow the right path. “and when all the apostles are called together at a time appointed” (Quran 77: 11). So the judgment will be passed on them all in justice.  “For what day has the term (of all this) been set?”(Quran 77:12).  “For the Day of Distinction (between the true and the false)!” (Quran 77:13). This Day of judgement for which Allah has set a specific time, will be great in respect to the fact that man will gain a perfect, unfailing insight into himself and the innermost motivation of his past attitudes and doings. “And what could make thee conceive what that Day of Distinction will be?” (Quran 77:14). It shall be the Day of Destruction for the deniers and rejecters. “Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth!” (Quran 77:15).
Next Allah is asking those who are in denial to this day of resurrection about their ignorance towards the earlier people; How Allah destroyed them. It was easy for Allah to destroy them and the destruction of the followers is also an easy task for Him. That is how Allah deals with the Mujrimoon.
“Did We not destroy (so many of) those (sinners) of olden days?” (Quran 77: 16). “And We shall let them be followed by those of later times” (Quran 77: 17): This implies that the suffering in the hereafter is bound to befall the sinners "of later times" even if God, in His unfathomable wisdom, wills to spare them in this world.  “(for) thus do We deal with such as are lost in sin” (Quran 77: 18).  “Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth!” (Quran 77:19).

A companion whose face was touched by an Angel- Jarir ibn AbdAllah

Imam adh-Dhahabi (RA) has titled a companion of the Prophet (Pbuh) as Al-Amir, Al-Nabil, Al-Jamil, Abaa 'Amr Jarir ibn AbdAllah in his collection, where he has described his exceptional qualities in great detail. Jarir (RA) was the leader of his people from Yemen and accepted Islam nine years after the Prophet (Pbuh)'s migration to Medina, during 'Aam al-Wufood. He brought 150 individuals with him to embrace Islam and meet the Prophet (Pbuh). Jarir (RA) was known for his ability to always bring a smile to the Prophet (Pbuh)'s face whenever he saw him. This quality exemplifies the kind and affectionate character of the Prophet towards his companions and sets Jarir (RA) apart as a remarkable individual among them.        What is the account of Jarir's encounter with the Prophet (Pbuh)? One day, while the Prophet was addressing his companions in Masjid an Nabawi in Medina, he suddenly paused and declared that a man fro...

Responding to Haters- A Dignified Way

Allah grants greater honor to those who demonstrate humility. One’s ultimate challenge in showcasing humility and honor will ari se when he comes across individuals who lack these qualities entirely.   Imam al-Ghazali (RA) stated that “The ultimate examination of "husn al-khuluq" or good character, lies in how an individual interacts with those possessing "suu' al-khuluq" or bad character” . It is in these situations where one's negative traits, such as arrogance, pride and flaws of the heart and tongue gets revealed through their actions towards such individuals.       Consider the following incident involving the Prophet (Pbuh) and Abu Bakr (RA). While sitting together, a man began to hurl insults at both the Prophet (Pbuh) and Abu Bakr (RA). . In response, the Prophet (Pbuh) remained patient and did not engage with the insults in any way. However, Abu Bakr (RA), who loved the Prophet (Pbuh) more than himself, eventually spoke up in defense. As a res...

The Miracles of Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh)

The Quran's revelation upon the Prophet (Pbuh) was an awe-inspiring and magnificent miracle that remains just as wondrous and glorious today as it did back then, rendering it a timeless wonder. Besides Quran miraculous revelation,   there were other miracles that occurred while in the Prophet's presence, and they had a profound impact on those who witnessed them. Two categories of miracles that were witnessed regularly were those involving trees and stones that would greet him, demonstrating nature's attachment to him. The Prophet (Pbuh) taught that the student of knowledge has everyone and everything making dua'a for them, including animals, fish in the sea, and the environment, as they benefit everything around them. Since the Prophet (Pbuh) received knowledge directly from the heavens, he was the most blessed among those who were given knowledge. .         Before receiving revelation, the Prophet (Pbuh) experienced miracles, such as tr...
