THE CREATIVE POWER OF ALLAH BEING MANIFESTED WITH OPPOSITE EXTREMES, ENHANCING A VISION THAT THE TIME IS TRICKLING FAST AND THE SOULS NEED TO BE AWAKENED (SURAH NABA- 78 Part III)

“(A reward from) the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, the Most Gracious! (And) none shall have it in their power to raise their voices unto Him” (Quran 78: 37) “on the Day when all (human) souls and all the angels will stand up in ranks: none will speak but he to whom the Most Gracious will have given leave; and (everyone) will say (only) what is right” (Quran 78:38). Here the word soul is used as a singular but is implied as a plural., when they all be made to stand.  They stand in awe of Him; no one dares utter a word without prior permission from Him. The Quran here mentions the symbolic right of the prophets to intercede for the sinners, however this they will only be able to do with the grant of Allah; Whom Allah will allow to speak and that too only truth. There won’t be any possibility of anyone being untruthful on the judgement day.

“That will be the Day of Ultimate Truth. whoever wills, then, let him take the path that leads towards his Sustainer!” (78:39). Objectively, it will be the moment when the ultimate Reality of human life and its purpose will become fully accessible to man's understanding. Then no room be left for doubt and controversy.  “Verily, We have warned you of suffering near at hand – (suffering) on the Day when man shall (clearly) see what his hands have sent” (Quran 78:40). A day when one will clearly realize what destiny is awaiting him and what he has finally achieved and what loss he has to face.

Allah tells us that His power, creativity, competence and justice has no match. He does nothing in vain. The world that we see, didn’t come by chance. It has a goal and an end towards which it is moving. Though all nature around us (earth, mountains, skies, sun, man woman created in pairs, day for living, night for rest, water from the clouds) itself participates in showing us the signs and the truth of Allah however our restricted thinking doesn’t let us comprehend the way we should have. All the phenomena in the Universe and all the dynamism around us is depicting polarity between the two poles that are not only complementary but also empowering to each other. The appreciation of light and dark, the heat and cold and the sexuality in human beings, animals and plants all are but exhibiting different degrees of polarization with essential oneness, from which they must have come into being. The opposites get manifested in this way with the primordial divine unity at its core.

The same polarity when seen in contest to the relationships between a man and a woman has the love at its core, which so essentially and undeniably binds the two opposites together. The deeper the polarity, they more irresistible will be the force keeping them together. Have we ever pondered that the same polarity keeps passion, magic and spark alive between the relationships of a man and a woman? As when this polarity between the masculine and the feminine is right, the attraction, the passion, the magic comes rushing in. This acts as a recharge for the souls bringing a kind of balance that gives a feeling of fulfillment in relations. This kind of relations usually become emotionally generous and more sharing to others, giving life and support to everything.  However, if this polarity is dead, the energies get out of balance and the relations die (Stoian, 2016).

So just as there’s a recharge in the relations, there’s a recharge of one’s soul during sleep as well. A time when the soul leaves the body and travels towards its source. Somehow, somewhere the soul must be knowing that the Oneness awaits. When we lay down and surrender to slumber, the body and the mind settle down from activities and the consciousness drifts away. The reality of sleep has however, remained almost a mystery for most. It seems to be an image of death, as in sleep the body rests while the soul remains awake, so is the death, in which the body rests while the soul is alive (Bahammam, 2011).

If one simply realizes that all our thoughts, behaviors and actions are in fact creating those specific effects which in turn will create the reality of our life. Meaning that everything that we have in life is the result of some specific cause which ultimately determines our fate and destiny. Nothing is build up on chance or luck. It’s not outside of us, it’s all created within us. Everything happens for a reason, it’s a direct effect of causes and the chain of effects we brought forth into existence and that transform our destiny at a constant rate. Hence our experiences of life are the reflections of our thoughts (Morin, 2016). Somewhat our thoughts do more than just that. They give a meaning to our experience of reality. The one thing that is completely within our control from the moment we come into this world is our conscious power over our thought processes. This realization in fact guides one to keep a check on thoughts, behaviors, reactions as this all will be reflected in this life and be carried into next life as well. One will thus always remain on guard as one will not be able to make up for the incalculable losses that he may have to face.

In this world we will keep on making choices, every moment of our lives. Some choices be made consciously and some unconsciously which will ultimately define our ending. If one knows this much that everything that we do in this life has consequences not only restricted to this world but has impact beyond the shores of this world, this automatically makes one more cautious to work towards the eternal goal. However, the pursuit of this demands many sacrifices. It’s always so easy to falter and stray; it’s not because that we are the born sinners but it’s because we all are so very weak. We become forgetful of our resolve, just because we start listening to the promptings of the lower nature, and don’t give any heed to the fact that we all are on an unseen but an inevitable march towards our final destination (Mohiuddin, 2016).

This final destination can be the Jannah or the jahannum, which are but the matters of the hereafter. These are the part of the realm of unseen; of which we have a very limited perception. They remain beyond our understanding, and so our reasoning and thinking cannot let us know that. Its realities are but known to the One who created them. Those who would have remained God-conscious in this world, will be well pleased with the boundless rewards (private gardens, vineyards, well-matched companions, and an overflowing cup) that will fulfill all the desires of their souls. This would be the ultimate achievement, the epitome of success and the greatest of rewards. A reward one can only earn through His Mercy. Since Allah is just and Fair, so He would reward both the men and women, the pleasures and the feelings that will be equally fulfilling to each of them. Since the One who created them in the first place, knows very well the requirement of each soul as well. All these however will be in the far better and purer form (Amatullah, 2011).

However, on contrary to this, those who would chose the lust of this world over the straight path of Allah, will find themselves eligible for the punishment and painful treatment (Ahmed, 2016). So all the potentialities be explored by a man to make his soul pure in this world otherwise on that day he would only wish to be soulless creature (dust), so that he be able to escape the sad destiny of hell fire. This surah is enough for our souls to be awakened.

A companion whose face was touched by an Angel- Jarir ibn AbdAllah

Imam adh-Dhahabi (RA) has titled a companion of the Prophet (Pbuh) as Al-Amir, Al-Nabil, Al-Jamil, Abaa 'Amr Jarir ibn AbdAllah in his collection, where he has described his exceptional qualities in great detail. Jarir (RA) was the leader of his people from Yemen and accepted Islam nine years after the Prophet (Pbuh)'s migration to Medina, during 'Aam al-Wufood. He brought 150 individuals with him to embrace Islam and meet the Prophet (Pbuh). Jarir (RA) was known for his ability to always bring a smile to the Prophet (Pbuh)'s face whenever he saw him. This quality exemplifies the kind and affectionate character of the Prophet towards his companions and sets Jarir (RA) apart as a remarkable individual among them.        What is the account of Jarir's encounter with the Prophet (Pbuh)? One day, while the Prophet was addressing his companions in Masjid an Nabawi in Medina, he suddenly paused and declared that a man fro...

Responding to Haters- A Dignified Way

Allah grants greater honor to those who demonstrate humility. One’s ultimate challenge in showcasing humility and honor will ari se when he comes across individuals who lack these qualities entirely.   Imam al-Ghazali (RA) stated that “The ultimate examination of "husn al-khuluq" or good character, lies in how an individual interacts with those possessing "suu' al-khuluq" or bad character” . It is in these situations where one's negative traits, such as arrogance, pride and flaws of the heart and tongue gets revealed through their actions towards such individuals.       Consider the following incident involving the Prophet (Pbuh) and Abu Bakr (RA). While sitting together, a man began to hurl insults at both the Prophet (Pbuh) and Abu Bakr (RA). . In response, the Prophet (Pbuh) remained patient and did not engage with the insults in any way. However, Abu Bakr (RA), who loved the Prophet (Pbuh) more than himself, eventually spoke up in defense. As a res...

The Miracles of Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh)

The Quran's revelation upon the Prophet (Pbuh) was an awe-inspiring and magnificent miracle that remains just as wondrous and glorious today as it did back then, rendering it a timeless wonder. Besides Quran miraculous revelation,   there were other miracles that occurred while in the Prophet's presence, and they had a profound impact on those who witnessed them. Two categories of miracles that were witnessed regularly were those involving trees and stones that would greet him, demonstrating nature's attachment to him. The Prophet (Pbuh) taught that the student of knowledge has everyone and everything making dua'a for them, including animals, fish in the sea, and the environment, as they benefit everything around them. Since the Prophet (Pbuh) received knowledge directly from the heavens, he was the most blessed among those who were given knowledge. .         Before receiving revelation, the Prophet (Pbuh) experienced miracles, such as tr...
