EVEN THE SMALLEST WORDS UTTERED WILL NOT BE FREE FROM THEIR CONSEQUENCES (SURAH AL-BAQARAH AYAH 103-104)

The Jews had preferred magic over faith and didn’t follow the Messenger. “And had they but believed and been conscious of Him, reward from Allah would indeed have brought them good had they but known it!”(Quran 2:103). If they would have believed in Allah and His Messenger, had avoided the prohibitions, and would have the perceptual consciousness of Allah along with rational, aesthetic and moral consciousness then Allah’s reward for the good deeds would have been better for them than what they chose and preferred for themselves. This reward which is absolutely good cannot be conceived, and only if they had known it, they would have acted like people of true knowledge and understanding. Since the Jews considered prophet hood to be a legacy, which only belonged to them so they were unwilling to accept that prophet hood has descended into any other lineage so they remained jealous and had prejudice. It was the habit of the Jews to mock the commands of Allah, ridicule H...

THE SUPERNATURAL PHENOMENON DEPICTS THE INEXHAUSTIBLE POWERS OF ALLAH (SURAH AL-BAQARAH AYAH 101-102)

When Muhammad (pbuh) came, the Jews living in Madinah wanted to contradict and dispute with him using the Torah. However, the Torah and the Qur’an affirmed each other. So the Jews rejected their divine writ by disregarding the prophecies relating to the coming of the Arabian Prophet “And (even now) when there has come unto them an apostle from Allah, confirming the truth already in their possession, some of those who were granted revelation aforetime cast the divine writ behind their backs as though unaware (of what it says” (Quran 2: 101). They knew the truth, but abandoned it, hid it and denied the fact that they even had it. When moral and material decline set in among the Jews, they were overwhelmed with ignorance, misery and decadence. They were thus drained of all high ambitions and increasingly turned to magic and sorcery. “And follow (instead) that which the evil ones used to practice during Solomon's reign for it was not Solomon who denied the truth, but those evil ones...

QURAN- THE WORD OF ALLAH AND THE WORD OF TRUTH, TRANSMITTED BY THOUSANDS FROM THOUSANDS DOWN THROUGHOUT HISTORY (SURAH AL-BAQARAH AYAH 98-100)

The belief in all the messengers is part of our faith and the disbelief in any one of them will lead to kufr. Angel Gabriel and Mika’el, have been specifically mentioned here. It is because this ayah was meant to support Gabriel- the emissary between Allah and His Prophets. Allah also mentioned Mika’el here, because the Jews claimed that Gabriel was their enemy. This was for three reasons: firstly, all the prophecies of the misfortune which was to befall the Jews in the course of their early history were said to have been transmitted to them by Gabriel, who thus became in their eyes a "harbinger of evil”. Secondly, because the Qur'an states repeatedly that it was Gabriel who conveyed its message to Muhammad (pbuh), whereas the Jews were of the opinion that only a descendant of Israel could legitimately claim divine revelation. Thirdly, because the Qur'an - revealed through Gabriel abounds in criticism of certain Jewish beliefs and attitudes and describes them as opposed ...

THE WILL OF ALLAH PREVAILS IN SHAPING THE DESTINY OF MAN, LETTING THE LIGHT OF GUIDANCE SHINE IN A HEART TO MAKE IT PERCEIVE THE DIVINE REALITY (SURAH INSAN-76 Part-III)

The human mind is such that it can grasp the fact of His existence and the manifestation of those attributes but can never grasp the How of His reality. This remembrance and appreciation of Him in everything around makes one overcome the resistances encountered in the way of truth.  “and bear in mind thy Sustainer's name at morn and evening” (Quran 76:25). This remembrance be carried out at all the times of wakefulness and in those times whenever unhappiness oppresses one and everything seems dark around.   “and during some of the night, and prostrate thyself before Him, and extol His limitless glory throughout the long night” (Quran 76:26). Those who will remain mindful of Allah, will never put the abode of Hereafter behind and will never be heedless of this. “Behold, they (who are unmindful of God) love this fleeting life, and leave behind them (all thought of) a grief-laden Day. (Quran 76:27). They very well know that He who...

THE WILL OF ALLAH PREVAILS IN SHAPING THE DESTINY OF MAN, LETTING THE LIGHT OF GUIDANCE SHINE IN A HEART TO MAKE IT PERCEIVE THE DIVINE REALITY (SURAH INSAN-76 Part-II)

They are the ones who willingly extend every kind of help and care, both material and moral to fellow beings. “and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive” (Quran 76:8), It means extending kindness towards all who are in need of help, may it be believers, non-believers or even the animals who are dependent on man. They do so just to please their lord, it isn’t to get any praise from anyone .   “(saying, in their hearts) "We feed you for the sake of God alone: we desire no recompense from you, nor thanks” (Quran 76:9): It’s just because they fear their standing in front of their Sustainer on that day, which is being promised to them. “behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" (76:10). Since they be knowing their responsibilities in this world and thus would be fearful of their Lord in all their dealings, therefore their faces will be radiating...

THE WILL OF ALLAH PREVAILS IN SHAPING THE DESTINY OF MAN, LETTING THE LIGHT OF GUIDANCE SHINE IN A HEART TO MAKE IT PERCEIVE THE DIVINE REALITY (SURAH INSAN-76 Part-I)

This surah reminds the man of his true position in the world. If one recognizes this true place and embraces the attitude of gratefulness, one will surely meet a good end. But if one fails in this, a difficult end will embrace him. This surah begins by reminding man of his humble beginning, referring to his time of conception, when he was nothing. “HAS THERE (not) been an endless span of time before man (appeared - a time) when he was not yet a thing to be thought of?” (Quran 76:1). It is He who got him created from a drop of sperm that gets intermingled with the female ovum and gave him all the faculties that would have been his requirement while his stay in this limited world.   “Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled, so that We might try him (in his later life): and therefore We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight” (Quran 76:2). How man gets developed, shaped and becomes grown up is nothing to hi...

WHEN JUST LOOKING AT THE THINGS MAY NOT BE ENOUGH BUT ACTUALLY HOW ONE WILL PONDER UPON THEM, WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE- SURAH AL-MURSALAT-77 (PART-III)

Those who would have exercised God-consciousness by performing the obligations and abandoning the forbidden things in this world will dwell in Jannah. This will be a fitting recompense for their deeds.  “(AS AGAINST this) behold, the God-conscious shall dwell amidst (cooling) shades and springs” (Quran 77:41), “and (partake of) whatever fruit they may desire ” (Quran 77: 42); and they will be told "Eat and drink in good cheer in return for what you did (in life)!" (Quran 77: 43).  The paradise will offer the most joyous bodily and emotional sensations, a feeling of fulfillment with perfect peace and harmony. An entirely different experience from anything imaginable in this life.  “Thus, behold, do We reward the doers of good” (Quran; 77:44).      Then the Quran gives a t hreat to those who deny the Day of Judgment. They may enjoy this short life and put the hereafter aside for a while but ultimate...

WHEN JUST LOOKING AT THE THINGS MAY NOT BE ENOUGH BUT ACTUALLY HOW ONE WILL PONDER UPON THEM, WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE- SURAH AL-MURSALAT-77 (PART-II)

The man is reminded to reflect upon the favors of Allah. If the man just looks at his own creation, he will simply recognize His lord. “Did We not create you out of a humble fluid” (Quran 77:20). “which We then let remain in (the womb's) firm keeping” (Quran 77:21). “for a term pre-ordained?” (Quran 77: 22). Mankind is reminded of a time when it was weak and despised and Allah placed it in a safe place – the mother’s womb. Neither can a harmful thing enter it nor can it be seen from the outside. It stays there and is nourished for a determined time. Only Allah knows when is the right time for the baby to enter this world. “Thus have We determined (the nature of man's creation): and excellent indeed is Our power to determine (what is to be)!” (Quran 77:23). Here is a reminder that man’s position in comparison to Allah’s power is weak. The process of man's coming into being clearly point to God's creative activity and, hence, to His existence. Consequently, lack of g...

WHEN JUST LOOKING AT THE THINGS MAY NOT BE ENOUGH BUT ACTUALLY HOW ONE WILL PONDER UPON THEM, WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE- SURAH AL-MURSALAT-77 (Part I)

This seventy-seventh surah of Quran gives a powerful message with audacity in each verse. It affirms the Resurrection and warns man regarding this truth as ultimately the man will have to face the consequences himself. It begins with a calling to witness the illusion to the gradual and step by step revelation of the Quran. This book which was revealed to guide humanity in the direction of light and this revelation has been stressed in order to give weight to a subsequently stated truth or evidence of the truth. “CONSIDER these (messages) sent forth in waves” (Quran 77: 1) . “and then storming on with a tempest's force!” (Quran 77:2). It relates to the impact of the Divine writ as a whole which has ever influenced human societies over all ages. “ Consider these (messages) that spread (the truth) far and wide” (Quran 77:3), “thus separating (right and wrong) with all clarity” (Quran 77:4).   T he term furqan is often used in the Qur'an to describe...

THE CREATIVE POWER OF ALLAH BEING MANIFESTED WITH OPPOSITE EXTREMES, ENHANCING A VISION THAT THE TIME IS TRICKLING FAST AND THE SOULS NEED TO BE AWAKENED (SURAH NABA- 78 Part III)

“(A reward from) the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, the Most Gracious! (And) none shall have it in their power to raise their voices unto Him” (Quran 78: 37) “on the Day when all (human) souls and all the angels will stand up in ranks: none will speak but he to whom the Most Gracious will have given leave; and (everyone) will say (only) what is right” (Quran 78:38). Here the word soul is used as a singular but is implied as a plural., when they all be made to stand.  They stand in awe of Him; no one dares utter a word without prior permission from Him. The Quran here mentions the symbolic right of the prophets to intercede for the sinners, however this they will only be able to do with the grant of Allah; Whom Allah will allow to speak and that too only truth. There won’t be any possibility of anyone being untruthful on the judgement day.         “That will be the Day of Ultimate Tru...

THE CREATIVE POWER OF ALLAH BEING MANIFESTED WITH OPPOSITE EXTREMES, ENHANCING A VISION THAT THE TIME IS TRICKLING FAST AND THE SOULS NEED TO BE AWAKENED (SURAH NABA- 78 Part II)

There must be a day when everything is judged and evaluated. The day is appointed by Allah. “ VERILY, the Day of Distinction (between the true and the false) has indeed its appointed time”: (Quran78: 17). It is a day when upheaval overtakes the universe and destroys its systems, “the Day when the trumpet (of resurrection) is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes” (Quran 78: 18).   The ‘Trumpet’ is a kind of horn of which we know nothing except its name and that it will be blown. We need not waste our time trying to discover how, for such discovery will not strengthen our faith. Allah has revealed to us what we need to know of the secrets of the universe so that we may not waste our energy in the futile pursuit of useless knowledge. We can imagine, however, a blast on a Trumpet which people answer by arriving in droves. “and when the skies are opened and become (as wide-flung) gates” (Quran 78:19); When the gates of the mighty H eaven, is opened up for the angels...
